Poppy Seed Challenge

Hello, How is everyone's weekend going so far? It is raining off and on here and gloomy. Nothing to complain about or compare with the east coast and the eartquake in Chili. With living in California and living close to one on the major faults, it is always in the back of your mind when will something like this happen here. I just wonder why something like this is happening so close together. I pray for all that is effected by this diaster.

I have another challenge card for you today. Lisa Johnson over at Papertrey has started up a new challenge. She will give us three seeds and then we need to make a project use these seeds. The seeds for this challenge is a floral stamp set, light yellow and crystals. You can use them any way you want, just make sure you use every one.

Thank you so much for stopping by and having a look.

Compose a Card Challenge #5

Hello everyone!! Thanks for taking the time to stop by blog and having a look. I finally am able to join in on Becky Oehlers Compose a Card Challenge. This is a terrific challenge. She gives you all the size for base and mats with the colors and you do the rest.

I still needed a thank you card so of course I decided to use this challenge for one.

I started out with my base card using PTI Stamper's Select White. The first mat is Aqua Mist. The second is Select White and stamped with Basic Polka Dots in Pure Poppy. The third is Bitty Dot Basics in Pure Poppy. I stamped a leaf from Turning a New Leaf in Aqua Mis and used some buttons from Pure Poppy Vintage Buttons. The label is SU! Modern Label Punch and used a sentiment from Handwritten Notes stamped in Pure Poppy, then used some Aqua Mist Vintage buttons. I also distressed the edges of my base card with Pure Poppy.

Why don't you hop over to Becky's blog and give it a try? She gives you a layout you can print up and then you will have it for future use.

Have a wonderful day,
Liz

Papertrey February Blog Hop!

Good evening!! Thank you for stopping by tonight and having a look at my creation. It is hard to believe that it is time for another blog hop!

It was so hard to pick any certain designer as an inspiration. They are all so fabulous and so much creativity. Thank you Ladies for all that you do and all of the inspiration that you give!!! Seeing your wonderful creations makes me the motivation that I need to get started.
I chose tonight to use one of Dawn McVey's cards that she did for this month's release. I decided to rotate it and used a different color scheme. It is a simple card but that is good sometimes, right?
I have been gone for most of the month and haven't had much time to create so I needed a simple and quick card. I also needed a few thank you cards and thought this was a perfect card for that.

This card measures 7x3 which is different than what I usually do and wanted to give a different size a try.
Before I go I would like to wish my granddaughter a Happy 1st Birthday. Happy Birthday M. Love and miss you!!
Supplies:
Stamps: Background Basics: Text Style, Around and About Sentiments
Paper: Raspberry Fizz, Vintage Cream
Ink: Raspberry Fizz, New Leaf, Vintage Cream
Accessories: New Leaf Satin Ribbon, EK Success border punch, Recollections Pearl Stickers, SU! Round punches
Have a wonderful time hopping around to everyone's blog. I know I will and am excited to see what everyone has done and see which designer you chose.

I'm back..........

Well physically anyway. I haven't been in the craft room for so long that it was hard to even get this card made. It seems my mojo has been on break for too long. I hope to get it back soon!!! This has been a very busy month. With the birth of a new grandson and two grandsons and granddaughter having birthdays beside my own. We also had to make an unexpected trip which wasn't for a pleasant reason. My MIL passed away after battling cancer for months. We weren't able to be there before her passing. It still doesn't seem real. I know she is in a better place and is no longer in pain and is with her husband and two daughters that precided her and I am sure that they were waiting for her and welcomed her with open arms.

I have a granddaughter having her first birthday on Thursday so I needed to make her a card so I can get her package sent off to her.

I used a stamp from Whimsy Stamps called Untamed Love. I just love the collection of Carousel Horses. When I first saw them I knew I had to have them. I just was now able to ink one up. This isn't what I had in my mind of the way I wanted to do this card but like I said earlier my mojo went on vacation and hasn't come back yet. I hope it hurries back soon. Maybe if I would get in my craft room and organize it a little more maybe it would come home. I started to do some sewing that I am so far behind on. Maybe that will help with the mojo.

I don't want to bore you anymore with my rambling so I will end this post.
Thank you for visiting!

Mother Love

This just may be my last post for a little while. We are going to have to make an unexpected trip. My MIL who has been battling stage 4 cancer for a few months has lost her battle early Sunday morning. We were hoping that we would be able to get there (she is half way across the country from us) before anything happened. But unfortunately that wasn't to be. She is at peace now and not anymore pain. Love you mom and you will be greatly missed.

I saw this saying on Melissa Phillips blog and loved it. Since our daughter just gave birth to a beautiful baby boy, I thought I would make up a little project to give her. I started out with a canvas board I had (8x10). Distressed the edges with some dabber paint. I used three differ ent papers and sewed them together with my sew mini with a zig zag stitch. I just placed some rub on images in a couple of places and randomly added some buttons that I had in my stash.

If you would like to know the saying, here it is:

Mother Love

Lie still, dear birdie,
In cradle rest.
The gentle breeze rocketh thee
Softly to rest.
Thy Father is singing thee
Sweetly to sleep,
While thy mother her little ones
Softly doth keep.
Sleep peacefully, Baby,
The Spring's come to you;
The grass is a carpet
of violet's blue;
The birds are all singing thee
Softly to rest;
But the love of a mother

Is sweetest and best.
Thank you for coming by!
Have a good one,

Birthday Wishes

Hello!! It is raining here. So is a gloomy day but we do need the rain.

I actually have two cards for you today. Can you believe it? I have 2 grandsons birthday next week. One will be five on Wednesday and the other will be a year on Thursday. Since the birth of our newest grandson we have 3 grandsons and 1 granddaughter in February and mine, so I think I will forgo my birthday and just concentrate on the grandkids from now on. It won't stop me from aging but it is more fun with kids birthdays.

The first one is for our 5 year old grandson. I actually had this Whiff of Joy image colored up for awhile and thought it would be perfect for his card. I believe that I stamped this image from my daughter's collection. I so need to get me some of the adorable images. I used alot of my scraps I had for this card. I did use PTI Ocean Tides for the base of my card. The Dark Chocolate was already punched with the border punch so I decided to use it and then found some paper paper that I thought looked good together. I tied some twine around the first layer for some texture and decide to put a dk. chocolate button tied with twine in the corner. The gray is from SU!
This second card is for the one year old. The image is from Motivet. I added the balloon from a set from PTI called Love Songs.I stamped the one in the center for his age. The Blue cardstock is from SU! I am sorry but I don't remember the name. I should have wrote down my supplies but I didn't. The Pattern Paper is PTI Itty Bitty Box in Summer Sunrise. The buttons are also PTI in Enchanted Evening and Summer Sunrise. I stamped an image from Background Basics: Spots and Dots in Versamark on the bottom.
Happy Birthday T & C. Hope you have a wonderful day and wish we could spend it with you.
Thanks for stopping by.
Have a wonderful weekend!

PTI Embossing Resist Challenge

Hello!! It is Friday, finally. It has been one heck of a week around here. It looks like we are suppose to get rain all weekend. Maybe some snow in the mountains and who knows we may get some flurries. We don't get snow very often so it is nice to see now and then.

Nichole Heady at Papertrey Ink is have a technique challenge. She wants you to do the embossing resist technique. She even has a video showing you how she did her card. I needed to make a Thank You card so I thought this would be a nice technique to use.

I started out with Aqua Mist CS and cut a portion of the front off and then used some vellum CS. For the panel I used Vintage Cream CS. The stamp is from With Sympathy. I first stamped it with VersaMark ink and embossed it with clear embossing Powder. I first used Lemon Tart ink and went over the whole image, then went over it again with Summer Sunrise and the final touch was Terracotta Tile ink. The butterflies are cut from Aqua Mist CS using a MS butterfly trio punch and glittered them with Prisma Glitter and randomly placed them on my design. The Top Notch Twill Ribbon is Terracotta Tile.

That is about it for me today,
Thanks for stopping in and taking a look.

Our Newsest addition!!!

Hello!! I don't have anything crafty for you this evening. I do have the newest addition to our family. Our daughter gave birth to her third son this morning at 4:53 am. His name is Garrett Howard and weighed in at 8lbs. 1 ounce and was 21 inches long. Mother and baby are doing great!!! He missed his grandmother's (me) birthday by not quite 5 hours. My birthday was yesterday. I was with her and her husband at the hospital was also in the delivery room. She didn't want to know the sex until the baby was born but we weren't surprised when she had a boy. He is adorable and to me he looks like his oldest brother when he was born.

I hope you have a wonderful evening or day depending on when you are reading this.

Thanks for stopping by today and I hope to have something crafty for you to see soon!!

Liz
